Mark and I were able to get away for an extended overnight date. We weren’t sure we were going to be able to do it but in the end it all worked out and we’re so thankful for a great sitter and friends who made it possible for us to be gone for 30 hours.
Mark surprised me with dinner and the hotel – at a place we’ve always wanted to stay not too far from home. It was such a great hotel and the only downside was that we didn’t have longer to enjoy it.
Something unique about this place is that it has these penguins all over the hotel and the staff moves them around all the time. It’s funny to come into a hallway and see one standing in a new place. The ones in the elevator actually startled me once.
Here we are in that same elevator, this time without the penguins.
We tried not to pack too much into the weekend. We mostly wanted to just take some time to celebrate and relax.
And we were able to do just that. We had so much fun but we were ready to see the kids again. They had a great time too, so all in all, it was a great weekend for our whole family.
Unfortunately, it’s Sunday night and that means it’s time to make lunches and get ready for work/school tomorrow. Oh well…guess I better get to it.
It’s been 10 years…
10 years later, I would still choose that place.
And I would still choose that guy…
Because he still makes me laugh.
And is still the one I want as my teammate as we navigate life together through good and bad.
We’ve seen these little ones grow to be teenagers.
Watching him be their uncle gave me a glimpse into what kind of a dad he would be one day.
And what a great dad he is to our two who are now about the same ages as those kids. Glad he’s with me as we prepare for and watch them grow to be teenagers….
It’s been 10 years since I waited outside that chapel to make the biggest decision of my life.
And I have no doubt that I made the right decision.
Happy 10 years, Mark.
Looking forward to seeing where the next 10 take us…
We finally got our summer list officially put together. Mia asked if there was even enough time in the summer to get it all done.
With it being our last summer before we jump into school, we’re going to make sure and have a great time! Luckily, we’ve already done quite a few off the list, but something says we’ll be doing some of them multiple times….
