The weather was absolutely gorgeous today. It feels like it’s been a while since it was this nice – or maybe since it was this nice AND I was able to be outside and enjoy it.
So this afternoon after naptime, Mia and I went for a walk. I got her in the stroller, linked a toy up for her (not that she played with it one bit, she was way too focused on seeing what was going on outside), put my water (and her bottle) in the cupholders, got my music ready and set off for a fast paced 30 minute walk.
Either I’m out of shape (which I am) or pushing a 17 lb stroller with a 19 lb baby and a diaper bag is hard work. There was just enough of an incline where I was walking that at the end I was feeling it. Wowzers. It felt really good though. It was nice to get out and get some fresh air (mixed in with car pollution – poor thing, way to expose your kid to stuff, I know – I’m choosing a different route next time).
Mia loved every minute of it. I could see the wind blowing in her hair and the way that she was just soaking in everything that was happening. Who needs a toy when you’ve got busy streets and people to look at?
It’s going to get cold again this week but maybe soon we’ll have spring days when we can go out and have the wind blow through our hair again.
That’s right…I took Mia wedding dress shopping. No, not for her. Although she did love all the colors of the bridesmaid dresses and all the mirrors in the store (she’s a girl, what can I say?). We went shopping with Dana, my roommate from college (and the 2 years after), who’s getting married in July.
It was a really fun afternoon. Mia was great. Of course add some wedding consultants oohing and aahing over her and she’s naturally fine.
Dana found a dress. And it’s gorgeous. I remember that feeling of putting on a dress and saying “this is it…this is the one.” Scary, but oh so fun.
I bet she can’t wait for July to get here.
Here’s Mia and Brown Bear for their 5 month pictures. Click here to see them all.
Yes, her hair sticks straight up (and her cheeks are shiny because we had just put lotion on them before she went to bed) She’s wearing pink striped pajamas again this month. You would think that’s all she owns. She doesn’t. Believe me. The mountains of laundry prove it. We’ve just had a hectic week and I was still coming up for air after that bug on her 5 month birthday and then went flying right into Family Weekend. We finally took these pictures last night before she went to bed and before I went back to work (I got home after midnight…).
Family Weekend is over. The bug seems to be gone for good. We’re just trying to get back up to speed now.
