Yesterday was a very productive day at our house.
When we went home for lunch, I put dinner in the crockpot so all I had to do when I came home was cook some rice. Then, in the evening, Mark entered a bunch of receipts into Quickbooks while I ironed my way through our huge ironing pile. It had been way too long since I ironed and mornings the past week have been a bit hectic – “what should I wear?” “no, wait…what can I wear?”
Anyway, I went to bed completely peaceful and refreshed, feeling so good about what we had gotten done. You would think my morning would have been the same…oh, sure I had plenty wardrobe choices, but showering, dressing, and packing work out bags and lunches can make those pre-work hours seem like work, too.
Oh, and Happy Halloween. I came to work dressed as myself. But, I am wearing an orange shirt :o)
On Friday I had another “party.” It was a dedication for a new center for the University, so I was involved in part of the logistics for it. It was a really long day – go to work at 7:45am and left at 7:15pm, but it went really well and I think it looked really pretty. We did chocolate brown and white linens with bright flowers on the tables. There are some pictures on a camera from work, so I’ll try to get those off and post them.
Today I had to do the dreaded Wal-Mart run. There weren’t as many people there as usual, so it was a bit better. The best part was when I looked at my receipt and calculated I saved $20 in coupons (!). Always a good day when that happens…
Back to work tomorrow. Weekends always fly by. Things should be slower, but Mark and I are still really busy. At least that way maybe the weeks fly by a bit, too.
I’ve been meaning to put these up here, so here they are. A couple of weeks ago, our church did a community group kick-off for the groups in our town. There was a chili cook-off and canoe rides.
Mark was one of 3 judges — look how focused he was. Caroline’s chili, representing our community group, tied for third (out of 15 or so chilis!). No, Caroline did not bribe the judge.
Emma Claire, ready to go in the “ship.”
Mark and Jay took Emma Claire out on the river.
Here they are, coming back. Kudos to Caroline for being brave and letting her little girl go out with the two guys. Getting in the canoe was tricky, but they did a great job.
Look at all 3 of their faces. Determination? Focus? Fear?*
Safe, back on dry land, but ready to go back out.
*Go here to see these pictures a little better and to see more we took that day. I’m still trying to figure out why blogger won’t let you get a bigger picture when you click on it. I’m messing with the html, but it’s late and I can’t figure it out. It’s frustrating for me, as I’m sure it is for all of you, but hopefully we can get it fixed soon. I may have to pull in reinforcements (a.k.a. Mark).
