Merry Christmas from these two monkeys.
I guess I’ve done too much partying today or the older my kid gets, the older I feel, because I’m about to fall asleep sitting up… It’s tough turning four, but somebody did it and did it well.
We did some of his favorite things today: donuts, toys, Walmart, and an outfit chosen entirely by himself…. What else could a little guy want?
Happy birthday, Finn! You are sweet, kind, funny, a ball of energy and we love you very much!
I always like waiting until after Thanksgiving to get started on Christmas decorating but it seems that between Finn’s birthday and the extra Christmas stuff at church and all the parties we need to squeeze in, if I don’t do it the weekend after Thanksgiving I’m scrambling.
So, while I was home alone with the kids while Mark was at work (working for a retailer means it was crazy busy for him this time of year), we got the house decorated. It feels so nice to have that done and now I can work on Advent and the rest of this season’s to do list with a little more of a peaceful heart. And really, not much beats seeing the excitement of the kids and hearing them squeal (and in Finn’s case scream “we have a Christmas house now!!” with such pride) or sitting next to the tree with a good book. Yep, it’s the most wonderful time of the year…
I had really good helpers. We had a few hiccups through the day and they were tired by this evening but they stuck with it all day and helped me pull stuff out, put it up and then clean up all the tubs.
Bonus: when we opened the tubs we found all kinds of things that we bought on clearance last year. I had completely forgotten about it so it was such a fun surprise. And I’m so glad we bought it last year so we could enjoy it this year. I love all of it so much.
We even did the outside but Mia thinks we need to do a bit more. Now to just convince Dad!
Excited about all that the next several weeks will bring! But right now, I’m enjoying my heated blanket, the soft glow of the tree, and a hot cup of decaf Earl Grey.
